It is fairly clear that there are literally thousands of different customer service jobs available out there at any given time. So, with all these choices, how does one decide what job they want to do? Of course, the question before that would be why would anyone want a customer service job? Well, customer service jobs can actually be quite rewarding jobs or even careers for those who really enjoy what they do for a living. Jobs in the hospitality industry have often been turned into careers for many people. There are a lot of people would be surprised to hear that, but it is true. Not everyone is bent on making the highest salary that they can.

Now, whether a server is paid an hourly wage or a salary depends on who the server is employed by. Some servers who work in higher class restaurants are sometimes paid a salary. Servers who have been working for the same establishment for years and who do nothing else besides that job will often get the hours and salary as well. Some places will even go so far as to offer benefits to these experienced servers. New servers in the usual restaurants typically get the hourly wage, especially if they are only working there while they go to school.

Over all, the average money that a server makes doesn’t even come up to about $30,000 a year. Of course, this is only an average and successful servers who know what they are doing can often make decent money. Now, while the pay may not always be exceptionally good it is a job that many people enjoy because it is simple and typically doesn’t require more than a high school diploma. There are also the experienced servers who work in the higher end restaurants who can actually pull in quite a bit of money. Some of these restaurants will have a mandatory gratuity, or tip that is added onto the bill to ensure that the server gets paid for the service. The one thing that most every server job has in common, regardless of where they are, is that they don’t usually make very much for their wage or salary. In many cases, most of them will only be earning the minimum wage, so the tip or gratuity is what they are really relying on to make enough to cover their living expenses.

While the money a person can earn from doing this kind of work may not seem very high, most people who choose this job as a full time job that they prefer to keep as a career are not entirely in it for the money. They like to be around people and ensure that they have a good time when they go out for a nice lunch or dinner. For many the money is more than enough because they live a fairly simple life and/or their partner makes enough doing whatever job they are doing to make sure that all their expenses are covered. For some people, the money that they make from their serving job is simply and added bonus.

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
