It is commonly mistaken that flight attendants make more than they actually do. On average, a flight attendant doesnt really make much more than a hair stylist or an esthetician. Some people think that this would be a job that would pay more, especially since flight attendants typically have to work over holidays and be away from family quite a bit; however, it is not an overly complicated job and doesnt require anyone to go to post secondary before applying for a job in the field. The most that this job requires is a high school diploma, people with good eyesight and applicants to be of a certain height so that they can reach the storage compartments above the customers. Just about anyone who fills these requirements can apply.

Being a flight attendant is something that many individuals are proud of and many of these people are more than happy to call it their career. They enjoy flying and feel that even if the pay isn’t as high as they would like it, it is well enough for what they do. They are away from home so much with what they do, that it is easy enough to have a simple enough life that allows them the freedom to do the job that they do. There are also other benefits that these people can benefit from aside from the pay that they receive. They get compensated by getting discounts on flights they want to take on their time off. It also gives them the opportunity to fly to all kinds of different places that they would not normally be able to visit otherwise. So, even if the pay is not as high as a person would like it to be, it is decent enough for people who enjoy doing this particular customer service job, and as mentioned before, it is one that many have been proud to call a career. As more people go into the same business, they will also probably take it as their career and will have many stories to tell by the time they retire.

A job as a flight attendant is definitely not for everyone. There are a lot of people who don’t like to fly and who would not make good candidates as a result. However, there are people who love to fly and regardless of the pay they would start off with, they find it to be the prefect job for them. Besides, there is always the chance for raises as they spend years employed in this job building up their experience and skills as a flight attendant. These raises can add up through the years, and by the time the person has built up a few years of experience; they can actually be making a fair amount of money. It’s certainly a job to think about if money isn’t a huge concern, but the experiences that a person can gain through the different people they meet, the different places they have visited and the different situations they have been through can more than make up for it.
