When most kids are asked at a young age what they want to be when they grow up, they dont usually say that they want to be a bartender. However, it is a job that many people find they might enjoy after they have given it a try, or know someone who is a bartender and appears to enjoy the job. It is a customer service job that pays a little more than what an average server makes and it is almost always in a party atmosphere, depending on where the person works.

Why pick a bartender as the customer service job to be a career if the pay isn’t overly high? There are some opportunities that come with it for someone who has chosen to be a bartender for a number of years. A person could get promoted into management where they might get a higher salary. Of course, if it is a job that a person loves to do, then the money is hardly the main concern. Though, if someone does want to do this for a career they need to be able to live on what they make. This is little trouble for anyone who wishes do bartend for a living. Many of them will take advantage of the flexible hours and work at a couple of different places and this could help them make more money.

Bartending as a part time job, like just about anything else, is not going to pay a whole lot. In many cases, the person may only get paid an hourly wage because of their lack of experience as well as the few hours they work throughout the week. There are a lot of students who will only bartend a couple nights of the week and there are others who only wish to bartend a couple nights a week besides their regular job because it is a nice change. Any person who decides to bartend for a living will try to work as many hours as they can get. This will build up their experience and knowledge of mixing drinks, besides being great with the customers who come in and delivering excellent customer service. Someone who does this for a few years can often pull in a decent amount of money and might even have the opportunity to be hired on with a salary by a business who notices the bartender’s experience and skills. There is also opportunity for this same individual to eventually get promoted to a higher position, such as a supervisor or a manager, which usually means a higher rate of pay for the person.

While the starting pay that an average bartender makes might not seem like a lot, the money that a person can bring in after they have built up their experience and skills can actually be quite a bit. Not to mention the opportunity of advancement to a higher position where they can manage the store with higher pay and still be working in the atmosphere that they love.
