Thousands of businesses around the world are based on the quality of the customer service they provide. The poorer the customer service they provide, the poorer their reputation is and the less amount of business they provide. Unfortunately, a common mistake that many companies make is to overlook the importance of customer service. It is missed that customer service is one of the most important parts of any business that wishes to succeed. There are five different levels of customer service. Level one is poor, level two is acceptable, level three is good, level four is excellent and level five is world class. Most businesses are in levels one, two and three. Very few are actually in level four of customer service and even less are in level five of customer service.

It is easy to be a business at a level one, which is extremely poor in customer service. All the business has to do is neglect its customers, provide no training and have managers who do a horrible job. If the business is in such poor condition with customer service, it is best that it just shut down because it will not have any customers if it stays open much longer. For a business that is a level two, it is not something to be proud of. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done in the business on its customer service. For businesses that are at a level three, it is half way there. This means that it is doing the right thing, it just needs to work a little harder and smooth a few of the issues out. For any business that is a level four, it is almost there! Just a little more work is needed. To become a level five, the business has to have excellent customer service for five years. This is a business that is so dedicated to its customers that it is involved in the community, the employees are happy with the company they work for, there are protocols that everyone abides to, there are no compromises, everyone is trained properly, and everyone is fanatical about excellent customer service.

Being a business that is at a level five, world class in customer service is not an easy task. It takes a lot of hard work to get there and then maintain it. A business has to earn the right to be a level five and the only way to do this is provide excellent customer service for five years at all levels within the business. If there is any department where the level of excellence does not really exist, the business will be kept at a level four. It takes a true team that works together in order to achieve such a high standing in the business world.
