Bartenders are seen in bars, pubs and even some restaurants that have a section they call the bar. They tend to be easy and fun to talk to, and usually have a pretty good sense of humor. It is also a job that some people will go to school for. Yes, there are actually bartender schools. With all the different drinks that a person has to learn and remember how to make, it is really little surprise that there would schools for bartenders.

How is a bartender job a customer service career? Well, anyone who has ever looked at an advertisement that is looking for a bartender, it usually says something to the affect of “must have fun personality,” or something like that. Bartenders that are in restaurants are usually there to help get the customers to relax and have a drink while they wait for their table. It is the bartender’s responsibility to ensure that the customers feel welcome and are comfortable while they wait for their table in the restaurant to be ready. Bartenders in bars are there to make sure that the customers have a great time, have the laughs they are out to get and make the customers want to come back for their evening of fun again.

Bartenders are not known for making the big money, though they do tend to make more than servers on average. If they do well enough and stay with the same establishment long enough, they might even get the opportunity to become a supervisor or a manager of the establishment a few years down the road. So, it is easy to see how some people might find this job the perfect career for them. It can be quite appealing to people who love the party atmosphere and prefer to be around it all the time. Being paid to be at the part is the added bonus for many of these partiers as well. Of course, to top it all off, the chance of becoming a supervisor, or a manager who can oversee the establishment, as well as mingle with the customers and make sure that everything is in order and everyone is having a great time, can seem like the career that has been specially designed for them.

Being a bartender is about as much a customer service job as a service is a customer service job. Both are in the hospitality industry and neither promises very much money per year, but those who are truly interested in doing this sort of thing for a living don’t care as much about the money as other people might. As long as they make enough to cover their bills they are fine. Many of these people who love this kind of work do manage to pull in a decent amount of money and they have fairly simple lives, so they don’t really have a whole lot to worry about other than getting to work on time. Of course, making sure that they get to a job they love on time is rarely a difficulty because they look forward to it every day. This is definitely a very possible career for anyone who loves to be around people and the party atmosphere on a regular basis.
