Just about anyone can get a job in customer service, but it depends on what kind of job in the customer service industry that the person wants to apply for. The person narrowing their options only means that finding a job immediately might become a little more difficult than before. Does this person want to work in the hospitality industry, or do they want to work in technical support, administration or in sales? While these are all broad areas to apply for, being qualified and getting chosen for the job first can become a little difficult when the person is in competition with other people who have experience, or more knowledge in the areas. How can a person get the edge when applying for a customer service job? What will make the person hiring take an extra bit of interest in the persons application?

Education is one option. Not just any education there, but education in the specific area in which the person wants to apply. There are certain courses and classes a person can take for administrative work, usually taken in business school. There are also courses a person can take in order to become qualified for being a manger in a store or a restaurant. Some sales jobs may even require that their applicants have some education, such as real estate companies. Going to school and getting educated for the customer job the person would like to apply for not only helps them understand the job better, but also looks great to the person who is doing the hiring. Most businesses would rather hire someone for the position who either has some experience, or some education in the field. Having both is even better and looks great for the employer, because it means they won’t need to expend as many resources training the new employee for the job. Not to mention that besides helping the person get hired, it could also help the person get paid a better wage than if they were someone who didn’t have an education in that kind of work.

An education does cost money, but in the end it could really pay off. An education makes the person stand out above all the other applicants. It can also help get the person promoted later on. When the person can show they have the education, and therefore have an understanding of the work they are doing, they show they care about what they are doing and have a legitimate like for what they are doing. Employing someone that cares enough to get an education about their work can show the employer how beneficial that person would be in their company. The employer would see that the person applying for the job could be someone who would provide the right service to their customers and can actually help make their business look even better.

An education may not necessarily guarantee a job, but it can help in making your resume glow a little brighter than the others the person hiring will be receiving. It shows that if the person took such an effort as to get education in that area of work, they are probably going to be a loyal employee who will do their best to do the job right.
