Freudenberg Household Products, makers of O-Cedar mops, brooms and other cleaning products, has announced it is moving its North America headquarters to Aurora, Illinois in 2009, creating 150 new jobs.

The 525,000-square-foot facility will be built on Aurora's east side in the Prairie Point West Industrial Park. It will serve as the company's administrative, manufacturing and distribution center for all of North America.

Ron Tillery, CEO of Freudenberg, said his team considered 10 sites in four states, but wanted to remain in Illinois.

Freudenberg currently is based in Northlake, but Tillery said the company anticipates investing $41 million into the Aurora site and is projecting a grand opening in the third quarter of 2009.

Sherman Jenkins of the Aurora Economic Development Commission said the city is giving Freudenberg a seven-year tax rebate at 75 percent of the city's portion of property taxes, capped at $1.55 million, and waiving 75 percent of the building permit fees, up to $127,000.
