Sometimes it’s better to start fresh and leave the old job behind. That’s what some Spokane Valley workers can look forward to. In a place where losing jobs is almost an anomaly, Spokane area workers who had previously lost their jobs or heard of potential layoffs can begin to polish their resumes and submit themselves for consideration at Greater Spokane Inc.

The company announced on Friday that it plans to add about 400 jobs in the next 18 months to its call center. The jobs are expected to pay more than $10 an hour. According to a report from the Spokesman Review, ICT Group officials told them that they will receive $340,000 in state money from Governor Chris Gregoire’s strategic reserve fund to use for training.

With offices in the former U-City Mall, ICT Group has employed call center workers to support companies such as Virgin Mobile and AOL. Robin Toth, Greater Spokane Inc.’s business development director, also told the Spokesman Review that “it is the second Spokane-area company to receive money from the fund.” The hiring process is expected to take place within the year.
