South Carolina has some good news for the Greenville County community as the city is negotiating a deal with an undisclosed international company that could bring 1,000 jobs to the area. The unidentified company, known only as Project Teal in county documents, is considering Greenville to be their North American home base, but the city is also competing with Virginia and Texas for the deal, which could possibly create new customer service jobs. The company behind Project Teal is working in connection with real estate business Village Land Inc. The two companies plan on investing $20 million to create the proposed building. The Greenville City Council is expected to approve the deal, which includes granting the international company tax breaks in exchange for the corporate investment in the area. If Project Teal gets approved for the tax breaks, the company or developer would save more than $1.3 million in tax costs.
