This is followed by on the job training which most banks provide as you join in this capacity. A background in finance will always be of advantage.

The basic skill that is required on the part of a bank teller is good communication ability and a polite attitude as he will interact with customers on a regular basis. He should have enough stamina as he might be exposed to various kinds of ailments due to long hours of working with the PC like backache, eye problem, and pains in the wrist or hands. As a bank teller you will deal with lots of money so you need to be conscientious while performing your job. Moreover, due to a huge workload you will often need to clock in beyond your working hours.

As a teller in a bank deals with big sums of cash, so some banks as well as financial institutions make them sign a bond before placing them in the job. Certain banks have a detailed procedure of verifying the credentials of a bank teller prior to recruiting them for the job.
