There are a number of customer service jobs in different areas to choose from. Many people will make the mistake that customer service jobs are limited to jobs such as serving tables or standing all night at the front desk in a hotel lobby. It is true that these are great examples of what customer service jobs are, but there are many other jobs that deal with customer service. Customer service jobs are not all limited to the hospitality industry. There are many more jobs that have just as much right to be regarded as customer service jobs that are not in hospitality. There are jobs such as administrative jobs. People who work in administration, such as secretaries or receptionists deal with customers on a regular basis. It is their job to make the customer feel welcome in the office and to make sure that the customer is comfortable while they wait for the help they need. People in sales also deal with people on a regular basis. A sales person's job relies heavily on the customer service they give out to the customers that come into their store. If they were to give out poor customer service, the likelihood of making their next sale is slim and this means they won't make their commission.

Technical support also has a lot to do with customer service. How is technical support a customer service job? Well, anyone who’s job is to offer technical support to people who are experiencing difficulties with their internet, cable or computer are dealing with customers on a regular basis. These people are there to help the customers and to offer suggestions and advice on how the customer can fix their problem. If these people were to regard the customer coldly, or rudely, they are not offering good customer service and the customer might be inclined to cancel their service. If they are consulting a computer person about their computer and the person is rude to them, the customer might not contact that business again. Once again, this area of work relies heavily on the quality of customer service. So, it is clear now on how many jobs there really are that are customer service jobs.

Customer service is all about how a business or the employees of the business treat their customers. The employees who deal with the customers are supposed to make the customers feel welcome and appreciated for doing business with that company. If the customer doesn’t feel welcome or appreciated, they might just take their business elsewhere. How can a business exist without customers? They can’t. It is the customers who spend the money for the business’ services, so if the customers stop coming to the business for their needs and they go elsewhere, the business will most likely have to shut down. Just about any kind of work out there has customer service jobs that anyone can apply to when the jobs become available. It is simply a matter of finding the right job to try out for and then applying for it. It could easily turn into the start of a wonderful career.
